Temporary additional duty orders (TDY) can be issued to military students at any time. They are usually short, from 2 days to 6 months. In the event a student “goes TDY” they become exempt from course submission deadlines. TDY orders that do not cause a student to withdraw or request a course extension will be verified by the Office of Military and Veteran Education.
"Going dark" is a military term for the sudden unexpected termination of communication. This can happen at any military base, ship, or remote location. During this time, students will not have access to their courses and may miss submission deadlines. A military student undergoing an event of this type is exempt from late assignment penalties. This includes discussion forums and assignment submissions. Exceptions for this event will be verified by the Office of Military and Veteran Education. Students should work out a submission schedule with their course mentor to avoid additional late penalties.
