BS Degree in Data Science and Analytics
Advance your career and stand out to employers in today’s fast-paced world of technology with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Data Science and Analytics from Thomas Edison State University (TESU). Designed around the unique needs of working adults, our 120-credit online program provides you with the knowledge to develop, deploy, manage and integrate enterprise-wide data and information systems and networks to support the goals of your organization.
Developed in partnership with The Institute for Statistics Education at Statistics.com, our innovative degree will advance your skills in predictive modeling, forecasting, customer segmentation, data visualization and risk analysis. The data science area of study, including all core and elective courses, is taught online at Statistics.com. All of the courses have been evaluated and recommended for credit by the American Council on Education’s (ACE) College Credit Recommendation Service (CREDIT®). All general education and electives required by the program are offered through TESU.
NOTE: Courses taken through Statistics.com are not eligible for federal financial aid, and they do not count towards the residency requirements for degree programs at Thomas Edison State University.
Transfer Your Credit
Have you attended college before? If so, you may be able to transfer credits earned at other regionally accredited colleges or universities. The University also offers a variety of other ways to earn credit – all designed around the needs of adult learners, like you.
As a graduate of our BS in Data Science and Analytics, you will be able to:
- Utilize key technologies in data science and analytics, including data mining, machine learning, visualization techniques, predictive modeling and statistics
- Apply knowledge of statistical data analysis and quantitative modeling techniques to solve real world problems
- General Education requirements: Earned via TESU online courses, exams and other credit-earning options
- Electives: Earned via TESU online courses, exams and other credit-earning options
- Area of Study requirements: Earned via Statistics.com online courses (transferred via ACE) or coursework completed elsewhere that satisfies the Area of Study requirements.
Online courses from Statistics.com are similar to TESU’s online courses. They are interactive, asynchronous and guided by subject matter experts who provide students with feedback and support. These courses involve a variety of materials, including textbooks and videos, and feature weekly assignments and online interactions among students and between students and the instructor. Students pay TESU tuition for all courses, exams and other credit-earning options provided by Thomas Edison State University. If students choose to complete Statistics.com courses, students are responsible for separate Statistics.com tuition which is ineligible for federal financial aid.
NOTE: The Credit Hour Residency Waiver Fee applies to students who have not earned at least 16 Semester Hours from the University’s Online (OL), Guided Study (GS) or e-Pack® (EP) courses towards their bachelor’s degree.
