Robert F. Herbst Named Executive Director of Continuing and Professional Studies in the Watson School at Thomas Edison State University

Robert F. Herbst, of Chester Springs, Pa., has recently been appointed executive director of Continuing and Professional Studies in the John S. Watson School of Public Service and Continuing Studies at Thomas Edison State University.

"We are delighted that Bob has accepted the position of executive director and we are eager to move forward to a new era for our Watson School," said Joseph Youngblood II, vice provost and dean of the John S. Watson School of Public Service and Continuing Studies. "He brings an impressive leadership record, holding top-level administrative positions as well as developing effective academic programs in professional and corporate education. Bob will play a critical role in helping us achieve our strategic goals and serving adult learners at the undergraduate and graduate level with innovative educational opportunities aligned with the needs of the global community."

Prior to this position, Herbst was assistant vice president for Professional and Corporate Education and director of the Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) in the College of Continuing Studies at La Salle University. Prior to La Salle University, Herbst served as the program manager and senior lead faculty for International Program Development with Penn State University’s Office of Management Development, University Park campus. Domestically, he developed several customized, leadership, management and supervision programs for Penn State. Herbst is an experienced teacher and trainer.

Herbst earned an MA in communications from Bowling Green State University in Ohio and a BS in education, psychology and speech from Defiance College in Ohio.
