TRENTON, N.J. — The Thomas Edison State University Foundation congratulates Foundation Board member Alex Binder, vice president of the Parker Advanced Care Institute and Home-Based Primary Care at Visiting Physician Services, on being named a 2026 NJBIZ Health Care Hero in the Health Care Professional category.
The NJBIZ Health Care Heroes Awards recognize individuals and organizations making a significant impact on healthcare across New Jersey through leadership, innovation and service. Binder was honored during the awards ceremony held on June 23 at The Marigold in Somerset.
The Health Care Professional category recognizes individuals whose dedication to patient care and the health care profession has earned the respect of colleagues, patients and the broader health care community. Binder was recognized for his leadership in expanding access to high-quality, home-based primary care for elderly and homebound patients throughout New Jersey.

This innovative model delivers chronic disease management, preventive care, medication oversight and care coordination to patients with complex medical needs, improving access to care while enhancing quality of life.
"Alex's dedication to improving the lives of others through innovative, patient-centered health care reflects the spirit of leadership and service we value at the Thomas Edison State University Foundation," said Mary Heagley, vice president for Advancement at Thomas Edison State University and executive vice president of the Thomas Edison State University Foundation. "His commitment to expanding healthcare access for vulnerable populations, coupled with his thoughtful leadership on our Foundation Board, exemplifies the positive impact our volunteer leaders make both within the University community and throughout New Jersey. We are proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition."
In addition to his leadership at Visiting Physician Services, Binder is a national advocate for advancing home-based care. He serves on the boards of the American Academy of Home Care Medicine and the New Jersey Healthcare Leaders Association. As a member of the Thomas Edison State University Foundation Board of Directors, he shares his expertise to help advance the Foundation's mission of supporting Thomas Edison State University's students and strategic initiatives.
