Accessing Federal Student Aid

Thomas Edison State University students interested in accessing federal student aid should follow these steps:

  1. Be accepted as a degree-seeking student by the Office of Admissions or a currently enrolled student.
  2. Apply for aid via the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Applicants are reminded to include the Thomas Edison State University financial aid code on their paperwork. That code is: 011648. We suggest that applicants read the information in the FAFSA Overview section, which offers tips on how to complete your application.
  3. Complete and submit the Application for Financial Aid, located on page four of the Thomas Edison State University Financial Aid Handbook.
  4. Furnish other documents as specified in the Thomas Edison State University Financial Aid Packet

Once a student’s financial aid file has been submitted and all required documents have been received, it will be reviewed by a financial aid counselor. An award letter will be sent to the student indicating what aid programs have been awarded. The application process can take up to six weeks, therefore students are urged to file the FAFSA and submit required documents well ahead of application and registration deadlines.

If you are unable to access the Thomas Edison State University Financial Aid Packet online, request that one be sent you by contacting us at (609) 777-5680 or via email at finaid@tesu.edu.
