DNP Practicum Preparation

Three practicum courses are required in the DNP program: NUR-9020, NUR-9120, and NUR-9220. To prepare for the Practicums students must read and access the Practicum Packet. Forms must be submitted according to the timeline in the packet.

Practicum Forms and Deadlines

Full time student: Due three months prior to the start of NUR-9020

Part time student: Due six months prior to the start of NUR-9020

  1. Complete and submit the DNP Project Site and Preceptor Information Form
    The preceptor’s resume needs to be attached to this form.
  2. Access the Delineation of Responsibilities Form
    Submitted as an attachment to the DNP Project Site and Preceptor Information Form
  3. Verification of Post-Baccalaureate Supervised Clinical Hours Form
    Submitted as an attachment to the DNP Project Site and Preceptor Information Form

Additional Requirements and Resources

  1. Due four months before the start of NUR-9002, all students must create and maintain an account with CastleBranch, the vendor for Background Checks and Compliance Tracking. All students must be in full compliance four months before the start of the practicum. CastleBranch can be accessed at portal.castlebranch.com/HZ14. Questions about ordering or uploading documents?   2. Due four months before the start of NUR-9020, CITI Ethics Training must be completed.
    1. Step 1: Visit https://about.citiprogram.org/
    2. Step 2: Click on “register” at the top right.
    3. Step 3: Search for “Thomas Edison State University”
    4. Step 4: Follow the Prompts to register
    5. Step 5: When prompted, choose the role “DNP Students / Mentors – Doctor of Nursing Practice”
    6. Contact the IRB Chair Jeffrey Harmon at jharmon@tesu.edu if you experience any difficulties.
  3. All students must submit the TESU Institutional Review Board Approval Form:Approval Form_Part A and Part B. The TESU Institutional Review Board Approval (IRB) Form is submitted after the student completes NUR-9020. The student must first receive approval for their DNP project from the agency IRB where the DNP project will be conducted, and then must make an appointment with the Associate Dean to prepare the TESU IRB form before submitting it.
