Soar above the competition and advance your career as a professional pilot with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree with an area of study in Aviation Flight Technology from Thomas Edison State University (TESU). Our 120-credit program is specifically designed for professionally licensed commercial pilots with a minimum of Commercial and Instrument ratings (Airline Transport Pilot recommended). At TESU, equivalent military training may also be considered for enrollment in our program. A total of 18 Area of Study credits must be from 3000/4000 level courses.

Degree Requirements


The following courses are required for the BS degree with an area of study in Aviation Flight Technology and can be fulfilled in either the General Education or Electives sections of the degree chart.

  • Statistics (3 credits)
  • College Algebra (3 credits)
  • Higher Level Math above College Algebra (3 credits)
  • Physics I with Lab (4 credits)
  • Physics II with Lab (4 credits)
  • Computer Concepts (3 credits)
  • Meteorology (3 credits)

Certification: FAA Certificate in Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot, Instrument and Instructor rating. Equivalent military training may be considered.

How Students Earn Credit in the Area of Study: Students’ areas of study are completed by the license, depending on the rating.

The inclusion of similar courses must be reviewed by the Evaluation team. Students must submit their program plan for review to ensure that course selection is appropriate for the degree.
