Social Gaming Club Goes Live at TESU

Social Gaming Club

The newly launched Social Gaming Club at TESU is designed to help students connect with classmates, regardless of skill level or background, in an environment where friendly competition, collaboration, and fun take center stage.

Thomas Edison State University (TESU) students never dash to campus dining halls after class or attend pep rallies and campus mixers. Nonetheless, they have found an immersive way to congregate, connect and compete in a nonacademic setting.

The University has announced the official launch of its long-awaited Social Gaming Club. The club is designed to help students connect with classmates, regardless of skill level or background, in an environment where friendly competition, collaboration and fun take center stage.

“We are excited to announce the launch of a new Social Gaming Club at TESU,” said Steve Weinblatt, assistant director of Student Success Initiatives at the University. “As an institution, we are continuously exploring new avenues in which students can connect, both within and outside the course space. Recognizing the growing popularity of online gaming, we decided to embrace this trend and create a welcoming environment where students can build relationships by engaging in a nonacademic setting.”

Hosted through TESU’s private Discord server, the Social Gaming Club is available to enrolled students all day, every day through Discord’s user-friendly online platform. Students can communicate with other club members on the platform through voice, video and text in a space that is secure and moderated by TESU staff.

“A priority for the club is to replicate the camaraderie found through online gaming in a stress-free atmosphere. Students can build friendships and connect with others with similar interests while playing their preferred video games. Casual and experienced gamers alike are welcome,” added Weinblatt.
