Accelerated Courses

These are 4-week versions of our existing Guided Study courses. They are designed for undergraduate students who already have some familiarity with the subject matter and want to progress quickly.

Accelerated courses require the same amount of work in each course as online and Guided Study courses. Per TESU’s Credit Hour Policy, please expect to spend 48 hours per week for each three (3) credit accelerated course. Students who have previous knowledge or experience in the subject of the course may be more comfortable in the Accelerated Courses.

We offer three consecutive four (4)-week sessions within every 12-week term.

Any undergraduate student can elect to take these courses.

By taking one course in every four (4)-week session, you can earn up to 36 credits (12 courses) per year. You can take more though, up to 16 credits in any 12-week period, usually under one term.

No. Accelerated courses do not have individual assignment due dates or late-penalty policies. Your grade is based on whatever coursework and exams you submit by the end of the four (4)-week session. However, to show "academic engagement" and remain eligible for financial aid, you must complete at least Module 1 by the end of the second week of the session.

We offer a no-cost eight (8)-week course extension upon request. Unlike other formats, you do not need a mentor's certification or a requirement to have 50% of the work completed to ask for this extension.

Yes! You can mix four (4)-week, 12-week, and (for Bachelor’s to Master’s or Nursing students) 8-week graduate courses all in one term.

Grades are released within 9 days after the end of each session.

You can take advantage of the Full-time Flat Rate Tuition without needing to take 9 credits all at once. Instead, you can spread those 9+ credits across the three consecutive four (4)-week sessions.

Yes, federal and state Financial Aid can be used for these courses. To remain eligible and show "academic engagement," you must complete at least Module 1 by the end of the second week of the session.

If you are using Financial Aid, you must select accelerated courses in sessions within the same overarching term. For example, if you are in an Accelerated course in July 2026 Session 1 and want to take another course starting in early August, you must select July 2026 Session 2. If you select a course in a session in any term other than July 2026, it will not be covered by your FA. Each term offers three sessions in which to take courses and for FA, all your courses must be in the same overarching term.

Some accelerated sessions have sessions in different terms that start on the same day, so be sure to register only for the term you were awarded your Financial Aid.

If you are using military tuition assistance for Accelerated courses, you must provide the exact four-week session dates on your TA request form, not the full 12-week term dates.

For example, if you are in an Accelerated course in July 2026 Session 1, you must use June 29 to July 26, 2026 as the course dates when requesting TA. If you want to take a course in July 2026 Session 2, you must use July 27 to August 23, 2026 as the course dates on your TA request form. Your TA will be rejected if sent to the University and the dates of the courses do not match the specific course dates for the courses you’ve registered for.

Payment of tuition for Session 1 is required at the point of registration, unless approved TESU FA is in place. Students may delay payment for Session 2 and Session 3 courses until 3pm on the Friday before the Session starts. Unpaid tuition at that point will result in deregistration.

• 50% refund if dropped before Session Day 7.

In Self-Service, use the filter to search for a specific term, then under Course Type, filter for Accelerated Session 1, Accelerated Session 2 and Accelerated 3. You will find the Accelerated sections listed with a section code of AC, as opposed to OL for online, NU for Nursing or GS for Guided Study.

Yes. You can add or drop courses for future four (4)-week sessions while the overall term is still ongoing, right up until the day the specific session starts. There is no late registration fee for these courses.

Yes, the Accelerated Courses do count toward your residency requirement of 15 credits for traditional or nursing students and 12/24 for active military students.

Absolutely. Admitted bachelor’s students can earn up to 12 graduate credits to apply toward both their Bachelor’s and a future Master’s degree. For example, BS in General Management students can take graduate courses toward an MBA, M.S. in Management, or M.S. in Healthcare Management. Speak to your advisor to plan this out.

You will become an enrolled student on the 10th day of the session you registered for, which may not be the 10th day of the term if you register for session 2 or 3. Pay close attention to the start date of your course and session to determine when you will become an enrolled student.
