Math Readiness Practice Tests - Student FAQs

We know that for many students, "Math" can be a stressful word. If you’re feeling a little nervous about your upcoming course, please know that’s completely normal—and you don't have to face it alone. TESU wants to support your success and help you feel confident and prepared before your course begins.

  • What are math practices test?

    The math practice tests are optional, private practice tests designed to help you check your readiness for your required TESU math course(s). It’s meant only for you—no one else sees your results.

  • What practice tests are offered?

    We offer practice tests for:

    • Liberal Arts Practice Test
    • AP Stats Practice Test 1
    • AP Stats Practice Test 2
    • Algebra Practice Test 1
    • Algebra Practice Test 2
    • Linear Algebra Practice Test
    • Precalculus 2 Practice Test
    • Precalculus 3 Practice Test
    • Calculus Practice Test

    In addition to the practice tests, there are skills practice offerings, quizzes and online and individual tutoring in math and many other subjects.

  • Do I have to take the practice test?

    No. It’s completely optional. You should take it if you think it will help you feel more prepared and confident before the term begins.

  • Why should I consider taking it?

    The practice test can help you:

    • Confirm you’re prepared for the math course you selected
    • Identify areas where you may want to review
    • Reduce stress before the term starts
  • What if I take the practice test and don’t feel ready?

    If your results make you feel unsure, you can reach out to Academic Advising to talk about preparation options. This may include:

    • Reviewing the many practice offerings in Brainfuse before the term starts
    • Using tutoring resources
    • Moving the math course to a future term

    Be sure to review TESU’s withdrawal and refund policies if you decide to delay the course.

  • Where do I find the practice test?

    You can access it in myEdison Experience through Brainfuse, TESU’s free online tutoring platform and under Student Support Resources.

    • Where: Log into myEdison Experience and select Brainfuse.
    • Action: Navigate to "SkillSurfer" under Academic Tools. Select “College”, then the specific mathematics topic you’d like to review. Resources for Nursing students are under “Nursing”.
    • Goal: Complete the practice test for your specific math course before the term begins.
    • Results: If you feel good about your score, you’re ready to go! If not, it’s a sign to use the tools provided or talk to an advisor.
  • What is Brainfuse?

    Brainfuse is an online tutoring service available to all TESU students. It includes:

    • Live, on‑demand tutoring
    • A study center with academic tools
    • The Writing Lab for writing support
    • Help across a wide range of subjects

    You can access Brainfuse directly inside your courses or under Student Support Resources.

  • Do my results on the practice test affect my course grade or enrollment?

    Not at all. If the results show you aren't quite ready, that is okay. You can work with Academic Advising to move the course to a later term, giving you plenty of time to build your confidence.
