Can I take prerequisite courses at Thomas Edison State University?

Yes, you can take prerequisite courses at TESU. Make sure to contact our Program Advisor at nursing@tesu.edu before doing so.

What courses do I need to complete the program requirements?

Before taking any courses, make sure to contact the School of Nursing and Health Professions Advisor at nursing@tesu.edu. There are no time limits on prerequisite courses. All prerequisite course and general education requirement credits must be completed prior to acceptance into the program.

Can I select the credit by examination option for any of the prerequisite courses?

Yes, the credit by examination option is available for the following prerequisite courses:

  • Nutrition
  • Ethics
  • Introduction to Sociology
  • Introduction to Psychology
  • Developmental Psychology

Please check with the School of Nursing and Health Professions Advisor at nursing@tesu.edu for more information on credit by examination and accepted exams.

The credit by examination option is not available for the following prerequisite courses:

  • Anatomy & Physiology I with Lab
  • Anatomy & Physiology II with Lab
  • Chemistry
  • Microbiology with Lab
  • Statistics

These must be taken as classes and have grades from regionally accredited institutions.
