Serving Students with Disabilities

Thomas Edison State University is an equal opportunity institution committed to providing equal access to its educational programs for students with disabilities. Students with a disability requesting academic accommodations are required to submit documentation to verify eligibility under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA, 1990; ADAAA, 2008). As defined by Section 504 and the ADA, an individual with a disability is a person who has a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits a major life activity, including learning. Academic accommodations are implemented to provide equal access to university programs and services.

Thomas Edison State University is designed to work with students at a distance and does not require students to earn credit through any specific credit-earning method. Students can communicate with the University by email, phone, fax and text.  All University materials and forms are fully accessible online; it is not necessary or required for students to come to the University campus. Students wishing to visit are advised to contact the ADA Coordinator to schedule an in person appointment at ada@tesu.edu or 609-337-4731 (phone/fax/text).
