Tuition Rate Change

Effective July 1, 2020, new students will no longer be accepted into the partnership with the tuition reduction benefit. All students who apply by June 30, 2020, will continue to receive the partnership's tuition reduction, providing their student accounts remain current as per University policies.

Costs and Tuition

Most students at Thomas Edison State University will have two cost factors:

  • Tuition paid to for courses, and;
  • Tuition and fees paid to Thomas Edison State University.

Tuition and Fees at TESU students benefit from having access to a 5% discount off in-state per-credit tuition rates, regardless of their location. Below are current discounted tuition options for students and a list of common fees.

2020-2021 Per Credit Tuition Students $379 per credit registered
For students who plan to take for up to 18 credits or less via TESU courses in a single year.

2020-2021 Fees

Application Fee
Includes official TESU academic evaluation and access to TESU advising.


Residency Waiver Fee for Students
This fee is applicable for students who earn less than 16 credits via TESU courses for an associates or bachelors’ degree.


100-level and 200-level

$50 per credit registered

300-level and 400-level

$75 per credit registered

Graduation Fee
This fee is paid the year of graduation.

  • A separate tuition and fee schedule applies to nursing programs
  • If a degree program requires a course not offered by Thomas Edison State University, you may need to take that course at another institution. You would be responsible for any and all costs incurred at that institution
