*These graduate-level courses give students nine graduate credits that will apply to the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree requirements at Thomas Edison State University upon acceptance to that degree program. Students planning on advancing their degree into the MSN program must get a B or better in these courses. Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN students may apply to the MSN program after successful completion of the BSN program and passing the NCLEX-RN®.

Progression and Graduation Requirements

All nursing courses are completed through the W. Cary Edwards School of Nursing and cannot be taken out of sequence. Due to the rigorous nature of the program, outside employment is strongly discouraged.

In addition to course exams, clinical requirements, and other assignments, students are required to take a subject matter ATI exam in each one of the on-campus clinical theory courses. Only one course in the program may be repeated one time. A second failure in any course will result in dismissal from the program.

Students are expected to comply with all clinical guidelines and performance requirements set forth in the Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN Program Student Handbook. Any breach of clinical policy may result in dismissal from the program. Students must also be able to meet all the essential requirements of the clinical program.

  • A criminal background check, drug screen, health and immunization verification, malpractice and health insurance, and CPR certification are required during the first course in order to attend clinical. Additionally, students must pass the criminal background check in order to sit for NCLEX as per NJ Board of Nursing regulation.

Tuition is $38,824, made in quarterly payments. Students accepted into the program must make a $500 non-refundable deposit within one week of acceptance to confirm their space; the deposit is applied directly toward their first quarterly tuition payment.

Note: All tuition and fees listed here were approved on June 5, 2020 by the Board of Trustees of Thomas Edison State University and are effective with registration for the August 2020 term. Tuition and fees are subject to change. Tuition and fees for courses and examinations for the nursing and general education requirements taken at other institutions will be the student's responsibility.
