Thomas Edison State University Celebrates Its 49th Commencement

Thomas Edison State University will celebrate its 49th annual Commencement, on Saturday, Sept. 25, at the CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton, N.J.

This year, in response to concerns over the COVID Delta variant, the university is hosting two ceremonies to allow for more room for social distancing and greater safety and enjoyment for all its graduates and their guests. The ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to recognize graduates from the classes of 2020 and 2021, respectively.

The university’s Class of 2020, which also had a virtual ceremony last October, includes 2,243 graduates, and the Class of 2021 includes 2,512 graduates, approximately 500 of whom plan to attend the ceremonies. The graduates attending come from 26 U.S. states including California, Montana and Texas and are traveling from as far away as Germany, Trinidad and the Bahamas.

The university has awarded approximately 69,194 degrees to more than 63,243 graduates since it began providing distinctive undergraduate and graduate education for self-directed adults through flexible, high-quality collegiate learning and assessment opportunities in 1972.
