New to Online Learning?

Welcome to Thomas Edison State University, one of the oldest institutions of higher learning designed exclusively for working adults.

Interested in how online learning works?

Many of our students who are new to online learning begin their educational program by registering for SOS-1100: Critical Information Literacy as their first course. Through interactive instructional software, students evaluate and strengthen their academic skills in writing, mathematics and basic information skills.

First time as a college student?

Welcome to Thomas Edison State University. We are pleased you chose to complete your college degree with us.

As a college student, regardless of your degree program, you will need to possess solid writing skills. Every degree requires that you complete both English Composition I and English Composition II to help you build your foundation as a writer.

English Composition I
Emphasizes basic expository writing skills that enhance the skills needed for academic and business writing.
English Composition II
Expands upon the expository writing skills learned in English Composition I and emphasizes the writing of research papers.
