Percy Blenman, AA ’12, BA ’13

Percy Blenman, AA ’12, BA ’13Originally hailing from the island nation of Trinidad, Percy Blenman is a man whose morals rest on fostering collaboration. When Blenman arrived in the United States, he settled in New York where he met his wife of 32 years, Alice.

Being persistent in accomplishing his goals, Blenman enrolled at Thomas Edison State University where he completed his associate degree in 2012, followed by his Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal studies the following year.

To underscore the power of his degree, Blenman immediately secured a position as a systems analyst with Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY) upon graduation. As a strong advocate of corporate partnerships and fostering collaboration, he worked to develop relationships with VNSNY colleagues, ultimately having a hand in the establishment of the University’s official nursing partnership with the organization in 2014.

Now employed as a senior program analyst with AM Best Company in Oldwick, N.J., Blenman is proficient in the aspects of the technology industry where he has maintained continued success.

Since 2013, Blenman has been an Alumni Ambassador with the University’s Office of Alumni Affairs, referring students to the institution and speaking to prospective students about his experience completing his degrees. Additionally, Blenman has shown additional support in being an active volunteer as a social media advocate, speaking on behalf of the University on social media platforms as well as remaining an active donor to the institution’s scholarship programs.

“Something you take away from any conversation with Percy is how much he cares. He cares for his family. He cares for his work. He cares for the University. He sees how consistency and persistence pay off and how it can for others as well. He is not a loud man, but one that you want to listen to because the words he says matter. We are thankful for Percy’s work as an Alumni Ambassador at TESU,” says Meg Frantz, director of Alumni Affairs.

Blenman and his wife share two grown children and daughter Amelia just graduated this year with a Bachelor of Arts degree from TESU. The couple currently resides in Roselle, N.J.
