Restoring Trenton — Vacant Property Data

Restoring Trenton is an initiative of the Trenton Neighborhood Restoration Campaign, a coalition of organizations and individuals, facilitated by Isles, working to revitalize Trenton since 2011.

In an effort to gather and mobilize data effectively and with the greatest impact, Isles seeks models and studies of similar data-gathering and public data-sharing occurring in similar post-industrial cities (Detroit, Baltimore, Cleveland, etc.). Research gathered will inform Isles on what data to seek out, what relationships between data to explore, how to communicate the data and correlations, how to make it most publicly accessible, and how to leverage data for policy and practice change.

After completing this project, students should be able to:

  1. Research data banks of collected information as well as data sources from other similar cities.

  2. Analyze and interpret research collected.

  3. Develop a website for findings to be accessible to stakeholders.

  4. Publish findings on the website developed.

  5. Promote website for organization via communication/social media platforms.

  6. Develop a policy paper to leverage legislative support.
