Grantsmanship for Nonprofits is an online, noncredit course that provides students with a practical foundation they can use when assembling a full grant proposal, regardless of the nature of the proposal or the organization for which it is intended. To that end, a discussion board and regular but digestible assignments are utilized throughout the course to share approaches and insights.

In the course, students learn to articulate the need for a project or organization’s work and are introduced to the various components of the grant application and how to translate the work being proposed into budgetary terms. Students also examine the importance of understanding the funder’s interests, and applying that sensibility throughout a grant application. Finally, the course focuses on packaging and format issues related to grant applications. The curriculum is structured into seven modules and can be accessed when and where it’s convenient for you. Students should expect to spend about three hours per week completing the course.
