Counterterrorism Intelligence

The art and science of intelligence has existed for many centuries. The Taoist thinker Sun Tzu emphasized the need for fore-knowledge of the enemy over 2000 years ago in his famous writing, The Art of War.

Since then, the Romans, Greeks and other empire builders have sought the competitive advantage of knowing their enemies well before engagement. Modern day military, police and security specialists have continued this tradition of "knowing" the enemy in order to effectively overcome the potential for harm in more sophisticated times, but in this country, they have been challenged to be effective in an ever-more demanding legal environment where privacy rights are constantly balanced against the desire for better security. Therefore, the contemporary manager as well as front-line security practitioner needs to have a fundamental understanding of successful strategies and tactics that achieve the goal of improved security in that challenging legal environment.
