Medical Imaging

The Bachelor of Science (BS) degree with an area of study in Medical Imaging is limited to certified, licensed radiographers possessing a required certification: ARRT Radiographer; ARRT- RT (R); or N.J. license NJ-LRT(R). Qualifying certifications are issued by a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited hospital-based program. Students must present a copy of the original certificate and current renewal card. A total of 18 Area of Study credits must be from 300/400 level courses. The degree is a 120-credit program.

Degree Requirements Credits
The following courses are required for the BS degree, Medical Imaging, and can be fulfilled in either the General Education or Electives sections of the degree chart. 24
  • Computer Concepts (CIS-107) or above

  • Intermediate Algebra and Above

  • Higher Level Math above College Algebra

  • Anatomy and Physiology I with Lab

  • Anatomy and Physiology II with Lab

  • Chemistry I or Physics I

***Some areas of study require completion 12 to 18 credits of 300 or 400 level courses.

  • Certification: ARRT Radiographer ARRT-RT (R) or NJ license NJ-LRT(R) (copy of original certificate and current renewal card)
  • How Students Earn Credit in the Area of Study: The certification covers almost all of the credits required in the area of study. A second certification (nuclear medicine, radiation therapy or radiation protection) would complete the area of study.
